In reply to <a href="https://topeczematreatments.com/13-super-foods-good-for-eczema/#comment-266">Elissa</a>.

Hi Elissa,

I know exactly how you feel. I went through a long period where I tried to avoid everything, including histamine heavy foods. When I was at my most sensitive, I found I reacted to fermented foods quite a lot, whereas others in a similar situation could tolerate them. I don't believe the benefits of taking them in this instance would have outweighed the negatives - the aim is to reduce inflammation, not promote it. Once I got to a certain point I was able to tolerate these foods a bit better so have introduced them gradually but I never 'indulge', if that makes sense. Because gut health is so important I settled on a low-histamine vegan diet and found it the most beneficial for me. Some people add a small amount of gelatin and probiotics to begin with, but the truth is really in the results. Here is a site which might help decide on the best probiotic for histamine intolerance. http://www.optibacprobiotics.co.uk/faq/which-probiotic-for-histamine-intolerance

We cant avoid histamines entirely, and our body does requires them for certain functions. But limiting them can be beneficial for conditions such as eczema. Here are a few other sites that might be helpful for you:

I wish you the best with your journey helping your little one.

Hi. I have a few questions on your post. I have a child with allergies & eczema, so I have been looking in to this a while (I also work in holistic health, so always looking for non pharmaceutical solutions!). I agree there is a strong correlation between gut health & skin conditions, & that bone broth & fermented foods like sauerkraut are generally good for the gut. But they are also very high in histamines, so I tend avoid giving them to my son, until a day where I feel we are in a place where his body can tolerate the additional histamines. I know some people argue that the benefit of these foods & healing qualities outweighs the issue of high histamines but this issue still concerns me. Just wondering if you can point me in the direction of any information or research showing the benefit for people with high histamine levels, allergic eczema, food allergies & intolerances etc. Thanks.
